About PJES

Created in 2002, Pragya Jyoti English School is a private boarding school, based in Kathmandu, which aims at offering poor children and orphans not only a good scholarship but also the opportunity to evolve in a school environment adapted to their needs. Janak Kapali, principal of the school, started the history of the PJES with only 50 children, from Nursery to Grade 3. Step by step, the school evolved and counted, in 2004, 100 children divided up in 6 levels (from Nursery to Grade 5).

The Lower Kinder Garden (LKG) is the class in which children begin to learn the basics of handwriting and the bases in English, Maths and Nepali. When they are in Upper Kinder Garden (UKG), children are taught Grammar and Punctuation in order to better their handwriting. From Grade 1 to Grade 8, children have English, Maths, Optional Maths (for whose who want to become engineers), Nepali, Science, General Knowledge, Computer Science, Health, Environment & Population, History & Geography, Account and Social Studies lessons. The admission in the upper class is determined by their success at the three exams they take each year.
